There seem to be more tasks than there is time to do them, but somehow I got the first issue out on time, and the second one is going to be on time as well. Amazing! Especially when you consider I spent a good day writing a program to update the masthead and crossword puzzles, two pieces of dynamic content that can’t be automatically rotated within Mambo (the CMS). So tomorrow (Thursday) I will crank up the program and cross my fingers that at midnight v1i2 will miraculously appear on the Internet!
Meanwhile I seem to be chipping away at the task list, getting things done. The problem is that the task list has expanded like a food-addicted blowfish onto several pieces of paper that are not entirely staying where I put them. So I assume that anything that doesn’t get done wasn’t so urgent after all. And anything that does is a miracle. That said, putting the publication schedule onto an Excel spreadsheet was the smartest thing I’ve done. I also keep a copy of it on the web so the writers can see it. An asterisk next to a story tells me it is in the CMS all ready to auto-rotate. No asterisk means there is still work to do. Ands I can instantly see what pages still need a story or two. Yike! Speaking of that, it looks like I have an editorial to write!!! |
