Covering the dedication of the new synagogue was an incredible thrill. I have never been around so many happy people. Of course they deserved to be happy, and the event they planned seemed to go without a hitch. They walked their Torah from the Unitarian Church in Ithaca where they have been meeting for 14 years, to the new temple in Lansing, where they greeted it with celebratory blats from multiple shofars, then brought it to it’s new home in the Ark inside. What a crowd! I got great pictures at both ends of the march (I drove from the Church to cover two other stories and grab a quick lunch before getting to the Temple on time to photograph the procession arriving). Very cool story!
